Youth Employment

With the arrival of summer, communities are looking for ways to engage youth in supportive, pro-social activities. The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a program that connects economically disadvantaged Native Youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer. Youth will be divided into 2 groups: 14–15 year olds will receive Work Packets and 16-24 year olds will be placed in available worksites. This program is offered in (2) monthly sessions. The first session is from June to July and the second session from July to August with 120 hours of flexible work schedules. The SYEP employs college and high school youth for 30 hours a week for 4 weeks within the summer months. The program provides structured projects and work-based opportunities to help youth develop productive workplace habits, social, civic, and leadership skills, and prepare for future careers. We encourage youth to seek job placements in areas of interest.
