Maintain communications between BBNA’s Forestry Program and fire response officials, monitor fires, keep abreast of forest fire threats to Native allotments, collect information, and following protocols for fire response.

Preferred: Related experience, advanced training or course work beyond high school in forestry, fire control, natural resources or other. Skills in reading maps/ aerial photos, knowledge of the region’s land patterns/topography. Computer skills: word-processing, databases & spreadsheets, internet. Other valuable skills include: ability to use digital media equipment, computer geographic information systems (GIS) software, and GPS. Ability to work in remote areas and have excellent communication in cross-cultural environments. Familiarity with Bristol Bay area, people and cultures. Essential physical abilities include performing rigorous outdoor climbing, boating and may involve traveling under adverse weather conditions. This position involves working in a wide variety of environments, including remote physical areas. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
