Establish formal plans and document progress, for all employees who work directly with children in BBNA’s Head Start and Child Care Center Based and Home Based programs, which meet the educational requirements of oversight agencies for specific positions. Foster professional development by developing training opportunities, collaborating with educational entities, and assisting employees with funding or other challenges. Assist WFD in case management, and helping clients get access to all services allowable under Federal and State regulations which support finding employment and becoming self- sufficient.

Education: AA or BA in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field or 2 years of progressive experience with demonstrated ability performing the duties and responsibilities described below. Familiarity the UAF Bristol Bay Campus and the process for obtaining the Child Development Associate credential preferred. Valuable experience/familiarities: Related work experience which shows exceptional organizational skills, leadership, and ability to establish productive relationships with a variety of agencies and individuals. Understanding of professional certifications required for Child Care licensing, and Head Start performance standards. Familiarity with resources available through the University of Alaska system, Adult Basic Education, and School Districts. Case management or eligibility determination or other related work which involves working with students to meet higher education goals, building relationships with scholarship and funding agencies to provide opportunities for clients. Familiarity with Bristol Bay area, people, and cultures is important. Certifications: Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of the Alaska Barrier Crimes regulations as a prerequisite to hiring. Clearance is processed through the State of AK Background Clearance Unit and includes fingerprints. Must have or be willing/able to obtain Certification of CPR/First Aide training. A post hire physical is required. Computer skills: Keyboard, MS programs, e-mail/internet. Ability to learn & use data entry software; Child Plus (Child Development Dept.), TAS (Workforce Development Dept.) or other data keeping programs. Other important characteristics: Demonstrated enjoyment of working with a team whose services are oriented around young children; in a fast-paced environment where changes to daily routines occur.
