Higher Education Program & Adult Vocational Training Program

The education program is responsible for working with clients that require Higher Education, and Vocational certification training program to attain the client's goals.

Higher Education Program

The Higher Education Program provides information and financial assistance to post secondary students interested in earning a two or four year degree at an accredited instiutions.

Depending on financial need, there is financial assistance available to qualified, tribally enrolled Bristol Bay members who are attending an accredited university on a full time basis. Thereare limited funds for eligible partime (6 credits) students.

BBNA works cooperatively with the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) and the Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation (BBEDC) to provide scholarships and higher education assistance to Native residents of the region.

 

Adult Vocational Training Program

The Adult Vocational Training Program provides information and financial assistance to clients interested in earning a ceritificate form a vocational training or a trade school program. The purpose of the vocational training program is to assist clients to acquire the job skills necessary for full time satisfactory employment.

Community Outreach

The education program travels to Bristol Bay communities to conduct program presentations to high school students and community members to give information about WFD's Education Program's and financial assistance and to address the issuesof upcoming major projects to promote employment opportunities.

Case Management

BBNA's Workforce Development Programs' purpose through comprehensive case management is to assist clients to find, develop, and prepare residents for gainful employment.

 

Student Liaison

The Education program hires a full time Bristol Bay higher education student from the University of Alaska Anchorage and University of Alaska Fairbanks to assist students with various higher education needs, counseling, tutoring and mentoring.

Campus Visits

The education program program travels twice a year to the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Annual campus visits' that are conducted each year is to promote employment and scholarships opportunities for our Bristol Bay students who are enrolled at UAA and UAF Campuses.
