In 2000, the Manokotak VPSO was also named BBNA's Employee of the Year. A June 2001 edition og the BBNA news described Andrew's exemplary work:

"In his nearly 10 years of service to Manokotak, VPSO Andrew has provided 'positive support and mentorship in his community (and) the statewide program,' VPSO Manager Brad Angasan wrote, in support of Andrew's nomination.

An active participant with the tribal council, he has persevered to help maintain village autonomy and self-determination,' at times taking charge to ensure program funding and professional public safety.

Andrew's village Drug and Alcohol Restistance Education (DARE) classes are taught in both Yupik and English, and he is an active member of the Manokotak Youth Group, working to develop healthy lifestyles and cultural sensitivity, Angasan said.

Also cited was Andrew's coordination of a search and rescue operation that saved three people from possible death by exposure when their snowmobile fell through the ice last winter, and the long hours and dedicated professionalism on other cases that earned Andrew job offers from both the Alaska State Troopers and state Criminal Investigation Bureau.

"His job performance exemplifies the quality employee that this program as well as this organization strives for," Angasan said.
