| Welcome to Bristol Bay Kids – a website dedicated to the children
and families of the Bristol Bay region. On this site you will find
helpful resources for anyone interested in giving young children
the best start for success in school and in life. This site was
developed through Bristol Bay Native Association’s Early Learning
Opportunities (ELO) Project.
Eight communities from around the region participated in the ELO
program: Dillingham, Chignik
Lake, Koliganek, New
Stuyahok, Pilot Point, Togiak,
Manokotak and Clark’s
Point. Each completed an Early Learning Plan that outlined goals
and priorities for improving early learning for young children.
The plans, and a workbook to assist other villages in completing
plans of their own, can be found on this site.
The ELO project completed a Bristol Bay Community Assessment that
compiled demographic data for the eight ELO communities. This document
is published here, as well as data sets and source information.
Bristol Bay is a stunning landscape. Yup’ik, Alutiiq, Athabascan,
Scandinavian, Japanese and many other peoples have settled here,
drawn by the abundant subsistence harvests, and more recently by
one of the most productive commercial salmon fisheries in the world.
If you are interested in visiting us, check out the village snapshots
that tell the story of our communities.
We hope you enjoy your visit to Bristol Bay Kids!
