The Youth Opportunity Movement is a national network that helps communities build education and job related resources for youth where unemployment is high and job success can be difficult. In Bristol Bay the villages of Chignik Lake, Koliganek, Manokotak, New Stuyahok and Togiak have been selected to participate in the program. The Movement’s mission is to promote self-esteem and self-determination through a culturally appropriate program of education, training, occupational experience and related services for Native youth. Partnering with government, businesses, schools and community organizations, the Youth Opportunity Movement will help Alaska Native Youth ages 14-21 gain work experience, education and training. |
